The moment of a marriage proposal is one neither of you will ever forget! The first thing you should consider when planning your proposal is how you are going to control the environment. Surprise your significant other with the proposal in a way they will enjoy. If he or she is shy, planning to pop the question at a public event is probably not a good idea.

Add special touches to your proposal to make it unique and special. You can sing your significant other a song, read a poem, decorate his or her apartment or otherwise make the evening romantic.

If you’re going to pull off an elaborate proposal, make sure you cover all the details carefully. Book trips well in advance, research the perfect engagement ring, and make sure any necessary staff at the proposal site knows about your plans so they can assist if necessary. Proposing while on a trip is a huge trend -- you can revisit the site of your first romantic getaway, or find a new place to make memories. Whatever you decide, keep in mind that the proposal is going to be talked about and sighed over for the next 40 years, so do whatever you can to make it original to you both.
